FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: DAN TOMPKINS

DAN TOMPKINS

“I’m most excited to live and work in the same town that I grew up in,” began Dan Tompkins, Trinity-Pawling’s new Director of Facilities. Tompkins joined the School at the start of the summer and is thrilled to be taking on the role in his hometown.

Tompkins earned an engineering degree from SUNY Maritime and after a few years of sailing and working on commercial vessels, he began his work in the facilities industry. For the past several years, he has worked in New York City, most recently as the Supervisor of Engineering at Columbia University. Joining the Trinity-Pawling community in June not only meant a much shorter commute for Tompkins and more time with his family, but it also allowed him to return to his roots. “I was born and raised in Pawling, so I grew up playing hockey and soccer on T-P’s campus,” he shared. “It’s such a great part of the Pawling community. Now I am able to ensure that everyone in town can have the same relationship with the School that I had as a kid. It’s a terrific opportunity.”

As Director of Facilities, Tompkins oversees all operations of the facilities and grounds on the School’s 230-acre campus. The position is a massive undertaking, but Tompkins arrived poised and eager to dive in. “I’m looking forward to putting my own touch on how campus runs,” he explained. “With my mixed work background, I can bring a new perspective to the table as my team and I work to make T-P the best it can be.” His main vision for his first year leading the Facilities Department is refining the already beautiful and historically rich campus. “I want to bring it back to the basics,” he shared. “Our campus is so gorgeous already. With some fine-tuning and beautification, we can make it outstanding!”

Tompkins lives in Pawling with his wife, Angela, their 8-month-old twin daughters, Adalynn and Brelynn, and their 90-pound Bernese Mountain Dog, Lulu. “The new school year is just around the corner and I’m looking forward to seeing what T-P and Pawling have in store for me,” Tompkins concluded. “What an honor to serve this community. It’s nice to be home.”
